Absentee ballots tallied Tuesday at the Putnam County Board of Elections in Carmel gave Merandy a 23-vote lead over challenger Allison Anthonie, 390 votes to 367 votes.
Before absentee votes were counted Merandy led 369 votes to 347 votes.
Merandy was running for a second term, having been first elected in 2015.
