BREWSTER, N.Y. -- Tickets are now on sale for Brewster High School’s fall drama production of "Almost, Maine," a romantic comedy by John Cariani.
The performances are Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 3-5.
"It is a series of nine vignettes that are witty, sweet and full of surprises,” director Stephanie Rubino said of the production. "This show is unlike any story that has ever been told on the BHS stage before."
Playful and surreal experiences are commonplace in the play: A woman carries her heart, broken into 19 pieces, in a small paper bag. A man shrinks to half his former size after losing hope in love. A couple keep the love they have given each other in large red bags or compress the mass into the size of a diamond.
A 2006 New York Times review calls the play "a whimsical approach to the joys and perils of romance. Magical happenings bloom beneath the snowdrifts. 'Almost, Maine' explores the thunderclap of love and the scorched earth that sometimes follows."
The show’s cast include students Sarah Borsari, Taylor Byrne, Megan Campbell, Erin Clark, Crystal Colon, Cati Conway, Grace Curley, David Diminno, Charlie Fitzpatrick, R.J. Frankenberry, Tommy Froessel, Emily Gonzalez, Mili Gonzalez, Antoinette Guerriero, Cecilia Guida, Ryan Hecht, Erin Kirkpatrick, Max Likens, Aaron Lurin, Michael Malanga, Sebastian Melchiori, Julian Nova, Grace Stathatos and Erin Vaughan.
Tickets are $12 in advance -- buy them here -- or $15 at the door.
Each performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Brewster High School Performing Arts Center, 50 Foggintown Road, Brewster.
