Superintendent Dr. Timothy J. Conway sent a message out Thursday, Feb. 11, that he will be leaving his post of nearly three years in July.

Conway, who came to the school district in 2004, has more than 26 years of experience in public education, specifically in the areas of curriculum, human resources, and finance.

Citing a need to focus more on family and friends, Conway called retirement “a big step,” but also an “opportunity” for him and his family to “have new experiences” and “recharge” their lives.

Thanking students for allowing him to serve them and be a “part of their lives,” Conway pointed to accomplishments that the administration has overseen in the last decade.

Specifically, he said, Brewster schools have been able to expand digital learning and establish a consistent kindergarten through fifth grade English language curriculum.

The district is also embarking on projects that will improve safety and facilities at its schools, Conway said in his message.

He also thanked the school board for its support.

Conway started as assistant superintendent for administration and business in 2004, then became deputy superintendent in 2011, and finally, superintendent in 2014.

Before coming to Brewster, Conway was a deputy superintendent and assistant superintendent for business in the Middletown school district in Orange County.

A graduate of Le Moyne College and Long Island University, Conway also has a doctorate of education from Manhattanville College and has held leadership positions in professional organizations.
