DiBenedetto was recently honored as a Student of Distinction by Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES during a Carmel Board of Education meeting.

“Christian is a talented young filmmaker,” Tech Center teacher Liz Marques said. “He has really produced some outstanding projects.”

DiBenedetto, whose love of film began when he and his older brother first started making their own YouTube videos, credited BOCES with giving him the opportunity to flourish as he proceeds into his post-secondary studies.

“It’s about learning the ins and outs of film –you get to learn all of the basic information,” DiBenedetto said. “It’s like a platform for your career. BOCES has given me a lot of experience and taught me what to prepare for. I thought I knew what I was doing in the beginning, but I learned a lot that will definitely help me in the future.”

DiBenedetto will attend Dutchess Community College this fall and then transfer to SUNY Purchase, where he plans to major in New Media, which embraces different mediums of storytelling, including film.
