Carmel High School Students Win Future Business Leaders Awards

CARMEL, N.Y. -- Carmel High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter returned from its recent New York State Leadership Conference (NYS SLC) in Rochester with the state’s highest honor – securing first place as “Chapter of the Year”.

The students were also honored for their numerous district and state-level accomplishments by Superintendent of Schools Andy Irvin and the Board of Education at the recent Carmel Central School District Board of Education meeting held on Tuesday May 3.

FBLA is a nationwide club that strives to improve the community and teach members professional skills. The Carmel High School chapter is a part of District 3N of NYS FBLA. The following is a list of the 2016 awards:

  • 1st place: Chapter of the Year: Elaina Nacinovich
  • Outstanding Officer of the Year: Chris Pereira
  • 1st place: Future Business Leader: Chris Pereira
  • 5th place: Future Business Leader: Gerry Hamilton
  • 2nd place: Public Service Announcement: Meredith Jennings and Sarah Stec
  • 2nd place: Parliamentary Procedure Individual: Sarah Stec
  • 5th place: Parliamentary Procedure Team: Liam Cassidy, Meredith Jennings, Elaina Nacinovich, Edward Stanley and Sarah Stec
  • 5th place: FBLA Principles and Procedures: Rahul Atluri
  • ​2nd place: Chapter Business Display: Meredith Jennings, Elaina Nacinovich and Sarah Stec
  • 1st place: Recruitment Video: Elaina Nacinovich and Michael Wilder
  • Early Bird Challenge Award: Michael Wilder
  • Venerating Veterans Award: Michael Wilder
  • 1st place: Connecting with the Community: Michael Wilder
  • 2nd place: Project $: Sarah Stec and Michael Wilder
