On Thursday, March 9, New York State Police were contacted by a man from Queens who reported that someone had withdrawn more than $2,000 from his 401K account. According to police, the deduction, including taxes, totaled the removal of more than $3,000 from his retirement fund.

Police said that the subsequent investigation into the missing money revealed that Carmel resident Bonnie Garvey had applied for a hardship loan from her victim’s account and forged his name on the loan document.

Garvey was arrested on Wednesday, March 15 and charged with felony counts of third-degree grand larceny and second-degree forgery. She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Southeast Court for arraignment on Thursday morning.
