Members of the public will have a chance to meet Creedon this week, as he is scheduled to appear at a "Meet the Candidate" night on Thursday, April 9. The event is set to start at 7:30 p.m. at the Falls School Auditorium.

Mahopac's school board is scheduled to vote on appointing Creedon at its April 14 meeting.

If appointed, Creedon's employment in Mahopac will begin on July 1, which is the first date of the 2015-16 school year. He would succeed Brian Monahan, who is currently serving as the district's interim superintendent and has done so since last summer.

The school board will honor Monahan at its June 9 meeting, the board announced.

Creedon is currently deputy chief academic officer in Philadelphia's school district, according to the announcement. It adds that he holds a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania, a master's degree from Goddard College and a bachelor's degree from Antioch University. Each of his degree's cover academic subject areas. The subjects are for reading, writing and literacy for the doctorate; curriculum development for the master's; and elementary education for the bachelor's.

Creedon's time with Philadelphia's school district goes back to 1987, according to his biography, which included serving as a teacher, director of arts education, a curriculum specialist and an assistant superintendent.
