"Our officers thoroughly vetted the threat and deemed that the student was not a threat," he added.

Solomon would not comment on what type of threat was made, but did say the department worked closely with the school district to make sure parents were notified and students were safe, he said.

Parents were notified by robo-call and by a statement on the district's website: "We were made aware of a potential threat to Rombout Middle School this afternoon on social media. We immediately contacted the Beacon Police to investigate. They have finished their investigation and determined that the threat was non-credible and the schools are safe for students to attend tomorrow. In accordance with our District Safety Plan we have requested that Beacon Police be on site tomorrow morning."

The student was not arrested, Solomon said.
