Putnam Valley Grad Named Valedictorian Of NYU College Of Arts And Sciences

PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- John Messinger, a 2013 graduate of Putnam Valley High School, is at the top of the class.

Messinger was named valedictorian for the NYU College of Arts and Sciences with a GPA of 3.959. Messinger was also the recipient of the Roland P. Beattie Award and the Presidential Honors Scholars Program.

Messinger has studied proteins implicated in dementia and is now researching decision making by people addicted to opiates. When he's not in the lab, Messinger was a four-year wrestler for NYU with 115 wins, serving as team captain for two years.
