CARMEL, N.Y. - The Carmel High girls lacrosse team came onto the varsity scene in 2008, and since then has been making steady progress, according to fifth-year Rams coach Kerry Hackert.

And all the hard work the players have done - and the progress the program has made - should be evident this spring.

"I do think this is our most skilled team yet," Hackert said after a 13-7 loss to Greeley Wednesday. "Caitlin Murphy will be the first Carmel player to play Division 1 (Manhattan College). And we have some good returning players and some good new players. And our goalie and defense all are returning, so we're looking or a good season."

Carmel opened its season Tuesday with a 17-10 loss to Brewster. The Rams were scheduled to visit Wappingers Monday, April 6.
