Kennedy Catholic Wins Chsaa NYC Volleyball Title

SOMERS, N.Y. -- Kennedy Catholic’s varsity volleyball team captured the CHSAA New York City Championship on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Cardinal Spellman High School.

The Gaels, who are coached by Anthony Santora, swept St. Joseph Hill 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-13) in the final round.

In pool play, the girls bested St. Edmund’s (25-9, 25-3) and St. John’s Prep (25-18, 25-21). Kennedy did not drop a set on the day. 

The Gaels finished their season with an 18-4 record.

On top of being the City Champions, the team also received a number of individual awards. Senior captain Kelly Gallagher was named the Bronx/Westchester League Player of the Year. Gallagher, along with seniors Mary Burns, Joanna Weidenhamer and Katelynn Ryan, were named All-League.
