Mahopac Pulls Away From Carmel To Win Annual Rivalry Football Battle

CARMEL, N.Y. -- Mahopac High School's varsity football team won the "Battle of Putnam" -- and the Bryan Higgins Trophy that comes with it -- by beating archrival Carmel 27-7 on Saturday at Carmel High School.

It was the 'Pac's fifth win in the last six meetings against the Rams.

Christian Donahoe and Dan Foley were among the standouts for the Indians (4-2). Foley threw a pair of touchdowns passes, including a 58-yard third-quarter connection to Donahoe that snapped a 7-7 tie. 

Quarterback Joe Rodriguez had a strong game for Carmel (3-3).

Mahopac returns to action Friday at 7 p.m. with a home game against White Plains.

Carmel, meanwhile, has a home game the same day and time, against New Rochelle.
