Some employees say the fire has put them in dire straits.  Newtown fire officials said they were alerted to a blaze at JJ Stacks, located in a strip mall on South Main Street, around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2. Mohammad Naziry was with his parents and grandmother at Prospect Park apartments in Stamford around 7:30 p.m. on July 26. Police said he pushed against a window screen and fell onto a patio 10 stories below. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Carmen Illapa Verdezoto, 78, was crossing Progress Drive near Stillwater Avenue in Stamford on Friday, July 31, when a 2022 Ford Escape struck her around 5:30 a.m., police said.
