Mahopac Library Features Wellness Classes In February

Wellness events are as follows:

  • Enjoy Your Herbs Year Round: Learn about herb preservation from the Cornell Cooperative Master Food Preservers. Class begins at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1. 
  • Mini-Yoga Sessions: This class is geared toward those who feel that they need adaptive poses based on simple movements that can be done with or without the aid of a chair, depending on the individual’s ability and their past or current injuries or conditions. Classes are 12-1:30 p.m. Fridays, Feb.5 and 12. Fee is $10 for a two-week session. 
  • Make Your Own Healing Salve: Tina Triburgo shares her knowledge of plant medicine and demonstrates how to make a skin-healing salve. Class costs $5 for materials. Class begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6.
  • Drumming Circle: Learn basic technique, rhythm and improvisation. Bring drum or other hand percussion; instruments will also be available. Group meets at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7. 
  • "PlantPure Nation": This documentary tells the story of three people on a quest to spread the message of the health benefits of a plant-based diet. Movie begins at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15. 
  • Self-Discovery through Yoga: Participants are guided to listen to their bodies and their mind, including thoughts, emotions and spirit. Class are 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 16 and 23. Fee is $10 for a two-week session. 
  • Yoga & Spa Afternoon: Experience one hour of yoga with Chun-Kim Levin followed by a spa workshop. No yoga experience is necessary. Class is for grades 6-12 and is $5 per person. Class are 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17. 
  • Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra: A guided meditation that systematically guides and relaxes you at every level of your being. No yoga experience is needed; participants should bring a blanket. Class is 3-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20. Fee is $5/person.
  • Boost Immune System with Elderberry Elixer: Tina Triburgo will teach participants to make elderberry syrup which some use to boost their immune systems during cold and flu season. Class is 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27. There is a $5 material fee.
