Following the program, the 20 participants visited with some of the more than 100 animals who live at the farm and then went for a hike in the woods to find live specimens of flora and fauna.

Community Based Services, based in North Salem, is an agency that operates residences and other support services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, according to a release from the Lewisboro Land Trust.

The goal for each resident is to provide them with a safe and meaningful life. Residents and adults in the Day Habilitation Program participate in recreational activities, but also gain life experience and basic work skills training, the release said.

The community based programs provide a person-centered approach to scheduled activities. Visit Community Based Services' website to learn more.
