Carmel's Scoops N' More Is Finalist In DVlicious Ice Cream Contest

CARMEL, N.Y. -- From simple vanilla to gourmet caramel combinations to the invasion of the Oreo -- is anything better on a hot day than the cool swirl of ice cream?

Classic, traditional options along with newfangled flavors, can be found in all corners of Putnam with a number of versions served a variety of ways (hello whipped cream, fudge, sprinkles and waffle cones).

You, however, picked five nominees for the best ice cream in the county, meaning now's the time to nail down the winner.

Years in Business: Under the current family ownership for 18 years, however, the eatery's history goes back even earlier.

What Makes Their Ice Cream Special: "It's family-owned," said Staffer David Bell. He also touted the offering of Hersey's-branded ice cream.

Number of Flavors: 16 hard ice cream flavors and three soft ice cream flavors.

Most Popular: Vanilla, chocolate and vanilla-chocolate twist.
