Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. said that his department provided and installed two patrol cameras for the Village of Cold Spring Police Department at no cost.
The village police cameras will be networked to a server maintained and operated by the county Sheriff's Department.
The cameras are an invaluable tool to law enforcement as they more often than not provide essential information about events leading up to the issuance of a simple traffic citation to criminal offenses, Langley said.
Cameras have become a welcomed tool to law enforcement.
"We are more than happy to share services with other police agencies to make them better at what they do for our community," Langley said.
