Watson's Restaurant & Bar, Putnam Valley
What Makes It Patty Perfect: Watson’s, which recently took a deep dive into the foodie desert that is Putnam Valley, has managed to gain a toehold with a combo of good eats, drinks, and fun, say owners John Watson, Joe Reed, and Frank Newcomb.
Watson's serves up, customers say, perfectly cooked burgers, sandwiches, and other pub grub. It uses a house blend of Kobe beef in its patties, which it serves on brioche buns. The three top choices are the All-American (lettuce, tomato, onions); the Smoked Gouda, with caramelized onions and imported cheese; and the Sunday Bloody Sunday, perfect for folks who like to have breakfast at any other time of the day BUT morning. It has slab bacon, hash browns, American cheese, and a gently fried egg.
Sidewinder spuds come with all the burgers. A special way of cutting the potatoes makes the fries crispy and soft at the same time and just the right shape for scooping up ketchup. The fun part?: Trivia nights, karaoke, country line dancing, live music, paint and sip parties, and special events such a murder mystery night.
