Dunkin Donuts, for one, is offering a complimentary medium hot coffee when you purchase a medium or large coffee.

Prefer Mickey D's? You can get a free medium McCafé beverage when you download (or if you already have) the McDonald's app.

7-Eleven offers a similar deal. From Sept. 29 through Oct. 1, all 7Rewards members (or those who have downloaded the app) get a free coffee of any size — one a day if desired.

Starbucks, it should be noted, is not offering any special deals but is instead changing its signage to reflect the brand’s ethical sourcing commitments and coffee farmer support.

To support a locally owned shop, check out the coffee creations at The Freight House Cafe in Mahopac, a DVlicious 2016 Best Coffee in Putnam winner and Reverie Caffe in Patterson, our DVlicious 2017 winner. The cafe is currently closed for renovations this week but will have new coffee equipment and, once open, showcase its fall coffee menu. Its cold-brew is available by the bottle at several locations including Rennys Store in Dover Plains, Tony's Deli in Pawling, Cross Fit Pawing and Patterson Autobodys Store.
