Heads Up, Putnam: Gridlock Alert Days Announced For Holiday Season

With the holidays fast approaching, the New York City Department of Transportation is encouraging area residents to utilize public transportation whenever possible.

The NYC DOT has designated 10 "Gridlock Alert Days."

Each year, the NYC DOT designates Gridlock Alert Days, which mark some of the busiest traffic and travel days on the calendar. As such, the DOT is encouraging residents that are heading to work, shop or otherwise to “consider walking, biking or taking public transportation whenever possible.”

This season’s upcoming Gridlock Alert Days are:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 22;
  • Wednesday, Nov. 29;
  • Friday, Dec. 8;
  • Wednesday, Dec. 13;
  • Thursday, Dec. 14;
  • Friday, Dec. 15;
  • Wednesday, Dec. 20;
  • Thursday, Dec. 21;
  • Friday, Dec. 22.
