A crowdfunding page called "Heat for the Sisters" has garnered almost $124,000 for the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart in Peekskill.

The goal is to raise $350,000 for the 15-year-old convent, which has nonworking boilers and a chapel in need of heating repairs.

The sisters are elderly -- the oldest is 105 -- need funds to pay for the repairs, according to the youcaring.com web page

The nuns were told not to turn the chapel heat on because it could collapse. Chapel repairs are estimated to be around $60,000, and he boilers each will cost around $50,000.

Water from the back porch has leaked into the convent's Records and Archive Rooms, and the repairs for that project are $49,500.
