Tess Rhian represented her high school at the New York State School Music Association’s annual Winter Conference in Rochester late in November, according to a statement from the high school.

According to the statement, performing in the All-State Mixed Choir is the highest state-wide achievement for a high school singer.

“Tess's accomplishment is of historical significance for our still young high school, as she is only the third PVHS chorus student, and the first female chorus member to have qualified and been selected for this highly competitive ensemble." said Gerard Micera, director of choral music and theatre.

This past fall, Putnam Valley had nine student musicians selected to participate in the Area All-State Music Festival, which was held at Arlington High School, according to high school officials.
