To The Editor:

There were a vast amount of voters unaware of The Putnam Valley Central School System’s referendum vote on Dec 8, which passed by 45 votes, 213 no-258 yes.

They were unaware because the school sent out the notice via bulk mail. Bulk mail is not forwarded by the United States Post Office.

So the snowbirds that go to their second home did not receive the notice of the vote and did not have the opportunity to send in an absentee ballot.

The school also decided to have two major events on Dec 8 during the limited voter’s hours of 3 to 9 p.m.. Every parking space was taken.

Many voters just turned around and went home, not casting a vote that will affect the taxpayers forever.

Voters were not given the details of what this $10 million capital reserve fund will be used for because the 5-year capital plan will not be made public until it is presented to the board for adoption on Dec. 17, nine days after the vote.

How could anyone have made an educated vote without the details?

A large group of us concerned and outraged taxpayers of Putnam Valley are filing a petition to overturn the vote and need your help.

If you would have voted no and did not vote, did not receive the notice to vote, or was unable to vote because of the parking or the limited hours, please contact me immediately at dvera13@hotmail .com.

We need your signature on an affidavit. I will provide a notary to witness your signature.

We have a limited time to file this petition so it is imperative you contact me immediately.
