Beska was recently sworn in as an honorary member of the fire department, spending years in the Ladies Auxiliary Department. Beska's husband, Dick, joined the fire department in the 60s and the rest of the family lent a helping hand to the department.
"All phases of fire department life were enriched by the Beska family's willingness to help," Jack Casey, the officer of public information, said. "To Davey, the Falls Fire Department was 'her fire department' and in her heart, it was."
In the 1970s, Beska became a dispatcher, answering the emergency line, often being on duty for days at a time and bringing firefighters soup and sandwiches when they were on the call. Casey said the Beska's adopted him when his father passed away in 1969.
"They stepped up and made sure I went in the right direction," Casey said. "They are very special people."
