Monroe Fire Department Names Firefighter Of The Year
MONROE, Conn. – The Monroe Fire Department honored Kyle Matthews as its Firefighter of the Year earlier this month. Matthews was recognized for a 'willingness to help newer members, commitment to training, call response and participation in our station coverage program.' The department also named Mike Preston as the Fireman of the Year, honoring him for serving as the lead instructor for the Firefighter I training program for new recruits.

Putnam Man Charged After False Report Prompts Large Police Response
PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. – A Putnam Valley man was arrested by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office after being accused of falsely reporting that armed intruders were at a friend's house on Hanover Road on Friday night, prompting a large police response. John Sheehan, 28, was charged after he made a 911 call at Putnam Lake stating that he had seen several people armed and with masks around the friend's house as he was arriving to walk their dog, having made the call from another friend's house after fleeing the scene, police said. Stamford Drug Dealer Charged With Sexual Assault After Groping Informant
STAMFORD, Conn. – A suspected drug dealer busted in a sting made the situation even worse by groping the police informant to prove she wasn't a police officer, the Stamford Advocate said. Philip Humphrey, 33, of Stamford was arrested Thursday after police set up a sting on Atlantic Street as word got out that he was selling crack, the Advocate said. Humphrey, who has been previously convicted of selling drugs, was charged with sale of narcotics and fourth-degree sexual assault, reported the Stamford Advocate.
