Library officials expressed gratitude to Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, who sponsored the grant which made this project possible.

Speakers included Kent Town Supervisor Maureen Fleming, Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell, and Galef.

Library Director Carol Donick showed two "Word Clouds" of the words people used to describe the library they grew up with, and the way they would like the Kent Library to be in the future.

The word used most often to describe the libraries they remembered was "quiet." The word most used to describe the library they would like was "community." She thanked many people who had worked on the new program room, but especially board members Otto Romanino and Angelique Wright. Paintings by three local artists, Bea Gustafson, Mary Smoot-Souter, and Doreen O'Connor are on display in the program room.
