Motorcyclist Pronounced Dead At Scene Of Taconic Crash In Putnam Valley

An investigation revealed that a group of approximately six motorcycles were traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. The lead motorcyclist failed to negotiate a turn in the roadway and subsequently lost control of his bike, striking the center guide rail. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Several northbound vehicles reduced their speed after witnessing the crash. A second motorcyclist struck the rear of a car and was ejected from his motorcycle. The motorcyclist was transported to Hudson Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The names of the motorcyclists are being withheld pending notification to their families.

The crash, which occurred shortly after 1 p.m., resulted in the closure of both northbound lanes on the Taconic and one southbound lane until approximately 4 p.m.
