The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Dutchess residents regarding the residency of 55-year-old Peter Cassels, who reported a move to Saratoga Lane in Fishkill.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Cassels as a level two threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense." He has also been designated as a "sexually violent offender."

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Cassels had sexual contact and deviate sexual intercourse with his 8-year-old victim in October 1993. He was convicted of criminal sexual act involving a victim under 11 years old, sexual abuse and first-degree rape of a minor in August 1996. Cassels was sentenced to a term of between 100 months and 25 years in state prison and is now under the jurisdiction of the Fishkill Town Police Department.
