Motorcyclist ID'd As 22-Year-Old Killed During PA Police Pursuit: Coroner
A motorcyclist killed in a crash with an SUV while fleeing a traffic stop in Pennsylvania has been identified, authorities announced on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
Luis Antonio Cruz Hernandez, 22, of Reading, was riding a 1991 Kawasaki motorcycle when Reading Police attempted to stop him for a traffic violation and excessive speed on Monday, Aug. 10, according to the Berks County Coroner’s Office.
During the pursuit, Cruz Hernandez traveled to North 9th and Green streets, where his motorcycle collided with a 2017 Acura SUV, the coroner’s office said.

A prison cell fire that forced the evacuation of dozens of inmates has led to the sentencing of a Pennsylvania State Correctional Institution inmate.
Daquian Juan Brown, 31, was sentenced on Tuesday, Aug. 11, after a Cumberland County jury convicted him in June of aggravated arson, arson endangering persons, arson endangering property, recklessly endangering another person, and criminal mischief in connection with the Oct. 17, 2025, fire.

Eleven New Yorkers have been charged in an alleged international immigration fraud scheme that arranged more than 1,000 sham marriages and collected tens of millions of dollars, federal prosecutors said.
The defendants were arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 12, after a two-count federal indictment was unsealed, according to the US Department of Justice. The network operated for more than a decade and arranged sham marriages between foreign nationals, primarily citizens of China, and US citizens to fraudulently obtain immigration status, prosecutors allege.

The two men killed in a head-on crash near Hersheypark have been identified, Derry Township police announced in a correction update on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
Ronald Lindenmuth, 57, of Phoenix, Arizona, was driving the minivan and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened at West Hersheypark Drive and North Hockersville Road on Tuesday, Aug. 11, police said.

A New York man accused of sexually abusing four girls for years in Lancaster has been convicted of more than 50 sexual offenses following a four-day jury trial, prosecutors announced.
Dennis Iluminado Martinez, 40, of Brooklyn, was found guilty on Thursday, July 16, of more than 50 offenses, including two counts of rape of a child, four counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, and 15 counts of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office.

The tanker truck driver killed in a head-on crash with a tractor-trailer on Route 309 is remembered as a devoted husband, father, and hardworking family man.
Keith Staines, 52, of Tamaqua, was killed when his tanker truck collided with a tractor-trailer near Route 309 and Gun Club Road in Lynn Township around 3:35 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office.
