Beekman Man Sentenced To 20 Years In Sexual Assault Case

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- After noting the seriousness of the case, a Dutchess County judge sentenced a Beekman man to 20 years in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting a child, according to The Poughkeepsie Journal.

Prior to the sentencing of John Stiebritz on Friday morning, the victim, who was 12 at the time, spoke out in court about how the experience has changed her. Now of legal age, she uses a service dog to help her with stress and anxiety, The Poughkeepsie Journal reports.

Stiebritz, who pleaded guilty to felony first-degree sexual conduct against a child, was arrested in August 2015. Dutchess County Court Judge Edward McLoughlin, who noted that the assaults spanned three years, also sentenced Stiebritz to 20 years of supervision after release, The Poughkeepsie Journal says.
