Carmel Man Charged In Southeast Burglary

SOUTHEAST, N.Y. -- A Carmel man has been accused by police of stealing antiques from a Southeast woman and then trying to sell at a local thrift shop.

Carmine Baioni, 74, was charged with second-degree burglary, a felony, for taking the items, which were valued at about $800, from the victim's Route 22 residence, police said.

State police from the Brewster barracks said the stolen goods were found at the shop where Baioni worked.

They did not identify the shop.

Baioni was arraigned in Southeast Town Court and sent to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail, or $5,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, July 18.
