DiPippo, convicted twice before, was released on $1 million bail, but he has to wear a monitor and stay at his parents' Pawling house. He was granted a new trial earlier this year after the state Court of Appeals found that he should have been able to present evidence pointing to another man, lohud.com says.
DiPippo and his friend Andrew Krivak were charged in the case in July 1996, and Krivak is serving 25 years to life after his conviction.
Wright's mother, Susan, calls DiPippo's release an outrage, lohud.com reports.
