A deputy sheriff responded to a report of a dispute on Marsh Hill Road in Putnam Valley on Nov. 28, shortly after 12:30 a.m.

According to the report, the suspect had driven away from the scene in an "intoxicated condition." After locating the suspect a short distance away, the deputy determined that the suspect, later identified as Michael Sherpf, 49 of Cortlandt Manor, was intoxicated.

Sherpf was charged with driving while intoxicated after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests, police said. He was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday while on patrol in Brewster, a deputy sheriff reported seeing a suspicious vehicle that was idling and occupied by two people in the parking lot of a Main Street business that was closed for the night.

Upon further investigation, the deputy determined that the driver, later identified as Francisco Fernandez-Arguenta, 23 of Brewster, was intoxicated, police said.

Fernandez-Arguenta was charged with driving while intoxicated after he failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests, police said. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendants could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000 for each charge.
