Putnam Sheriff's Officers Charge Brewster Men With DWI In Southeast

SOUTHEAST, N.Y. -- Putnam County sheriff’s officers charged two Brewster men with driving while intoxicated during the course of a week, the Sheriff's Department said.

The first arrest occurred when a deputy stopped a motorist who allegedly committed a traffic violation on Route 6 in Southeast on Saturday, Feb. 20, at approximately 2 a.m., officials report.

The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Edvin Antonio Salazar, 27, of Brewster was intoxicated, police report.

Salazar was arrested and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor; the defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment, according to police.

The second arrest took place when a deputy stopped a motorist who had allegedly committed a traffic violation on Route 6 in Southeast on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 2:11 a.m., police report.

The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Tyler J. Murello, 63, of Brewster was intoxicated, according to officials.

The deputy further determined that Murello held a suspended driver’s license, police report.

Murello was arrested and charged with DWI, along with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors, according to officials.

The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment, police report.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendants could each face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000 for each charge, police said.
