The shooting occurred around 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28 in the area of 11 Edgar Street, near Poughkeepsie High School, according to Poughkeepsie Police Det. Lt. Matt Clark.
As officers arrived at the scene, they were told the victim had been put into a vehicle and was being driven to a hospital, Clark said.
Just before 6 a.m., the vehicle the victim was in was found involved in a crash while the victim was inside the vehicle.
Officers loaded the victim into a police car, a firefighter began CPR and he was driven to a local hospital. The victim is undergoing surgery for his wounds. The victim is a City of Poughkeepsie resident.
