Members of the New Rochelle Police Department arrested the suspect at 4:47 a.m. Saturday, and charged him with murder.

Jose Olmos, a 28-year-old homeless Hispanic male, was charged with second-degree murder, New Rochelle Police Capt. Robert Gazzola said. Olmos is being held at the New Rochelle Police Department pending arraignment on Monday, July 30.

The victim has been identified as Nurten Seljuk, a white female whose address has yet to be confirmed, according to Gazzola.

Family members who were notified said that she had lived a transient lifestyle, Gazzola said.

It appears that she suffered massive blunt force trauma to her head, however, the official cause of death is pending the outcome of the Medical Examiner’s investigation, according to Gazzola.
