Woman Charged With Endangering Welfare Of Disabled 20-Year-Old In Red Hook

RED HOOK, N.Y. - A 20-year-old mentally handicapped person is safe after a recent altercation ended in charges filed against the victim's caregiver, police said,

New York State Police in Rhinebeck charged Monique Jenkins, 41 of Poughkeepsie Friday with endangering the mentally handicapped person who was in her care. 

Jenkins was reportedly caring for the alleged victim when an argument broke out Nov 27. Following the spat, Jenkins allegedly placed her hand around the victim's throat.

Police charged Jenkins with Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person, a 2nd Degree and Class A Misdemeanor.

She was released on summonses pending Dec. 17 court appearance,
