Tendy is running on the Republican line after defeating Levy in a September primary. Levy, who is running for a third term, will be on the Conservative, Reform, and Independence lines.

The campaign has been marked by allegations on both sides and attempts by Levy to get Tendy thrown off the ballot. Levy's is the son of Judith Sheindlin, TV's "Judge Judy."

Tendy, who currently serves as Town Supervisor of Putnam Valley, said he has been visiting the voters and getting their input to ensure his message gets out and voters come out on Election Day.

"My strategy is to trust the voters of Putnam County," Tendy said. "They are the ones to inform me about their concerns with the District Attorney's office."

Tendy said he has also spoken to law enforcement. Tendy was a prosecutor in Manhattan and has worked as a criminal defense attorney for 21 years.

"I am not saddled with the the numerous ethical lapses our current district attorney is dealing with," Tendy said. "I believe in ethical and professional behavior."

A Levy spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.

On Monday, Levy called a press conference in Carmel to discuss allegations by Putnam County Sheriff Don Smith and Captain William McNamera that he is under investigation by the FBI regarding his involvement with Alex Hossu.

Hossu was Levy's former live-in trainer who was acquitted last year of raping a 13-year-old girl. Levy sued Smith for saying he interfered with the investigation and Smith sued Levy for defamation.

Levy's brother-in-law was Hossu's attorney and Levy helped with Hossu's legal expenses.

Putnam County Judge Lewis Lubell has given Smith and McNamara until Oct. 30 to reveal details of their communication with the FBI.

At the press conference, Levy said he is releasing depositions from the lawsuit on his website and challenged Tendy to debate him on the Hossu case, according to LoHud.
