Two Sent To Hospital After Bicycle Collides With Motor Scooter In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Two people were hospitalized after an electric motor scooter and a bicycle collided in Fairfield on Sunday morning, police said.

The accident happened just after 9 a.m. at Commerce Drive and Black Rock Turnpike, police said.

The preliminary investigation determined that the cyclist was traveling east on Commerce Drive when it collided with an electric motor scooter that was traveling west in the eastbound travel lane, police said. 

The scooter was operated by a 49-year-old man from Bridgeport, police said.

The operator of the motor scooter was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, and the operator of the bicycle was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, both as a result of injuries sustained during the collision, police said.

This case is currently under investigation by the Fairfield Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.
