Instead of remodeling or renovating a home, utilizing colors with a summer vibe is a great way to revamp a house with little financial commitment. According to Barbara Bodnar, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker, soft hues and bright colors are perfect for lightening up any space.

Here are her recommendations on several room colors that evoke summer, all year long:

Sky blue is a summer favorite and works well in almost any room in the house. Instead of going overboard on this color, simply adding an accent to the arm of a chair or purchasing sky blue pillows could give a home a summer feel, without pushing the envelope.

Bright orange is a bit of a risk but can play beautifully in the summer if used properly. It works well against neutral colors and can add a lot of character to an otherwise unassuming space. However, if you want to go all out, consider a smaller space like a bathroom or den where it won’t look too showy.

Kelly green is much like blue, as it's reminiscent of the return of the leaves and grass, which makes it an ideal tone for the months of summer. While this color can be a lot less assuming than many bright colors, it can still provide an effective accent around the home. For ideas on how to use Kelly green, try pairing it with a white to give off a homey look.

Hot pink can be the perfect tone to liven things up around the house. Whether you want to paint an accent on a wall or reupholster some chairs, hot pink can easily make one think of summer cocktails and warm destinations throughout the season.
