Brown was front and center at the bus circle every morning greeting the kids as they were being dropped off.
“We’ve missed you! Welcome back! It’s going to be a great year,” he cheerfully told each one.
On Thursday morning, the youngest students and their parents turned out for the district’s PTA Pre-K Meet & Greet.
The annual event is an opportunity for children and parents to become familiar with the school and meet their teachers and classmates, the district said.
PTA president Annalisa Altieri and PTA member Liz Masters organized a reception that included playground time and other activities for the little ones.
Administrators, teachers and other staffers also met with parents and children, answering questions and providing information.
Students and their parents took a bus ride so they could get comfortable with the routine and go over safety rules.
The morning ended back at the school with a snack and a tour of the building.
Each child received a goodie bag with a school T-shirt. Parents got PTA materials.
“This is such a good way to begin the year,” said Altieri, adding that the district encourages all parents to get involved by joining the PTA.
