The books, mostly Irish literature, history and a few on the Irish language, will be added to Iona’s special collection.
“Iona College is very grateful for this significant donation,” said Rick Palladino, director of libraries. “These books will be a great addition to Iona’s Brother Charles B. Quinn Collection of Irish materials, in English and Gaelic, with a focus on the subjects of Irish literature, history and culture."
An English teacher with an interest in Irish history and culture, Furey is retired from Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua where he taught English for 36 years. Furey ran three times for County Executive in Putnam County.
