Voters Approve Brewster School Budget, Re-elect Incumbents

SOUTHEAST, N.Y. -- The Brewster Central School District's proposed 2015-16 budget easily passed on Tuesday, results show.

The budget, which has around $89.9 million in total spending, was approved by 917 votes to 457.

Additionally, a ballot proposition to authorize spending $479,975 on bus purchases passed by 915 votes to 460.

Voters re-elected incumbent school board members Stephen Jambor and Sonia Mesica, who received 786 and 735 votes, respectively. Joining them will be newcomer Mary Cay Nilsen, who received 799 votes.

The trio were elected because they were the top three vote recipients in a field of five candidates.

Meanwhile, Lauren Harper finished fourth with 672 votes and Daniel Armstrong finished fifth with 549.
