An NJ Transit train struck and killed a pedestrian in Bergen County overnight, officials said. The incident happened at approximately 1 a.m. when Port Jervis train 41, which had departed Hoboken at 12:39 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Port Jervis at 3:15 a.m., hit a woman just west of Rutherford Station at Paterson Avenue, according to NJ Transit spokesman John Chartier. The Hoboken Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own. Officer Frank Francolino died at home while off-duty on Saturday, Dec. 28, the department said on X. "We ask all to keep the Francolino family in your thoughts, prayers & hearts. Please respect their privacy as they mourn this unimaginable loss," the statement reads. A cause of death was not announced. Records show Frankolino joined the force in 2008.

Hoboken Lululemon Loses $39K In Merch To Thieves, Police Say
Multiple shoplifters are at large after stealing items from a Lululemon in Hoboken on eight different incidents this year, authorities said. The shopliftings occurred between Friday, Aug. 30 and Tuesday, Nov. 26, Hoboken police said. Each time, the shoplifters entered the store at 313 Washington St., took multiple items, and left without paying, police said. The thieves made off with more than $39,000 in merchandise, police said.
