Poughkeepsie Celebrates Annual Lights Parade POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- For the last 22 years, Poughkeepsie has held a Celebration of Lights Parade down Main Street to the tree lighting at Market Street, according to a report on Time Warner Cable News. As in years past, residents lined the streets Friday to watch the bands go by and to wave hello to Santa and Mrs. Claus making their way to the annual tree lighting, TWC reported. Wappinger Custodians' Sexual Harassment Lawsuits Go To Mediation WAPPINGER, N.Y. -- The sexual harassment lawsuits filed by two Wappinger school district custodians against their supervisor is going to mediation, according to a report in the Poughkeepsie Journal. Peekskill High Band Performs For Chamber Breakfast PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - Members of the Peekskill High School band performed Wednesday at the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce Business Council Breakfast at Paramount Hudson Valley. The Chamber of Commerce hosts an annual holiday breakfast for its members and this year invited the Peekskill High School band to perform during the two-hour breakfast. It's a way for the chamber to celebrate its member and the arts at the holiday season, the chamber said.

Putnam Sheriff Charges Two With Driving While Intoxicated PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Over the last week, the Putnam County Sheriff's Department has charged two drivers with driving while intoxicated. A deputy sheriff responded to a report of a dispute on Marsh Hill Road in Putnam Valley on Nov. 28, shortly after 12:30 a.m. According to the report, the suspect had driven away from the scene in an "intoxicated condition." After locating the suspect a short distance away, the deputy determined that the suspect, later identified as Michael Sherpf, 49 of Cortlandt Manor, was intoxicated. Newburgh Police Charge Man With Hit-And-Run, DWI NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- A local man was charged by Newburgh police with a hit-and-run that occurred early Friday after they found his car on fire in a parking lot of a church, according to a report on Time Warner Cable News. New York Times Reviews New Rochelle's Wooden Spoon NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The Wooden Spoon of New Rochelle was visited and received a "good" rating from New York Times food critic Emily DeNitto this past week. Orangetown Police Offer Tree Safety Tips ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- Even though the threat of Christmas tree fires is rare, Orangetown police are asking homeowners to take caution this holiday season. The department sent out tips from the National Fire Protection Association for homeowners bringing Christmas trees into their homes this holiday. Dows Lane Elementary School Raises More Than $1,500 For UNICEF RIVERTOWNS, N.Y. -- Students at Dows Lane Elementary School have raised $1,536.47 for the United Nations Children’s Fund this year.
