The crash happened in Dumfries, near the cemetery, causing five miles of delays as of 1:20 p.m., MATOC reports.  The north left shoulder and left lane were closed.

The child was heading south in the express lanes near Gallows Road near Merrifield when they ran off the road and came to rest on the shoulder around 5:05 a.m., Virginia State Police said. The out-of-state tween suffered minor injuries and was taken to Fairfax Inova Hospital for treatment. State police were able to make contact with the juvenile's parents. No charges were placed. Heavy backups were reported following the incident.
