Lucy Uzzi, 91, Longtime New Milford Resident
NEW MILFORD, N.J. — Longtime New Milford resident Lucy Uzzi (Garaguso) died Sunday, June 5. She was 91.
Uzzi was a lifelong leader for the Girl Scouts of the USA, with her Girl Scouts traveling to London, the Caribbean and all across the United States for more than 30 years.
Uzzi is survived by her children, John, Mary Ann and Raymond Uzzi and Roseann Fatigati; grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Laura, Michael, Herbert, Daniel, Alexis and John Michael; and great-grandchildren, Mary Jane, Frederick, John Joseph, Thomas, Eshaan, Camden and Lucy. RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — Ridgewood resident Edmond Kawash, formerly of Englewood Cliffs, died Sunday, June 5. He was 81.
Kawash was a master hair stylist for many years and co-owner of Michele Arnold et Edouard Salons in several locations in Bergen and Morris counties.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany.

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — Fair Lawn resident Paul Staveris died Sunday, June 5. He was 82.
Born and raised in Zakinthos, Greece, Staveris moved to the United States in 1961, settling in New York City, before moving to Fair Lawn in 1975.
Staveris served with the Greek Army, as well as NATO, attaining the rank of sergeant.
He was a member of Pan-Zakinthian Fellowship in New York City and the Neighborhood Cleaners Association.
Staveris owned and operated Mr. Mort Cleaners in Fair Lawn for many years.

Born in Hoboken, Kelly was a machinist for the American Can Company in Hoboken and a past president and served on the board of directors of the O.C.N.A.C. Union and was a former member of the United Steelworkers Union.

RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Marylou C. Fasouletos (Jacovino) died Monday, June 6. He was 63.
Raised in Rutherford, Fasouletos worked as a nurse and teacher at St. Mary's in Rutherford, Queen of Peace in North Arlington, and St. Peter's in Belleville.

FAIRVIEW, N.J. — Fairview resident Nancy Fapone (D’Anduono) died Saturday, June 4. She was 92.
Fapone was born in Hoboken and resided there for 30 years, working at Tetley Tea, Tootsie Roll and a coat factory, making coats for servicemen overseas.
She moved to Fairview when her would-be husband, Louis returned from World War II, and lived there for the next 62 years.
She was a homemaker and then worked and retired from Houbigant Fragrance in Ridgefield.

She worked for Verizon in customer service for more than 30 years, before retiring in 2010 and then went to work for the Bergen Record newspaper as a customer service representative the past five years.

HACKENSACK, N.J. — Hackensack native Carmela (Pirrotta) Iodice died Wednesday, June 4. She was 91.
Iodice lived in Hackensack for 61 years before moving to Maywood 30 years ago.
She was a 1943 graduate of Hackensack High School, a full charge bookkeeper for more than 45 years, retiring in 1988 from North Jersey Reporting in Hackensack, a member of the Senior Club of Maywood for several years, and a lifelong parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church, in Hackensack.
