Lorraine Hamouz, 84, Mahwah Resident
MAHWAH, N.J. — Mahwah resident Lorraine Hamouz died Sunday, June 5. She was 84.
A graduate of Long Island City High School in Queens, N.Y. in 1950, Hamouz worked in the purchasing department of the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company corporate headquarters.
She later was employed by the Paramus Board of Education as an aide at Ridge Ranch Elementary School for many years.
Prior to retiring, she was store manager at the Hallmark Card Store in the Paramus Park Mall.

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — Fair Lawn resident Angelo Salvatore Serra died Friday, June 3. He was 56.
Born in Paterson, Serra lived in Elmwood Park for most of his life before moving to Fair Lawn six months ago.
He was a graduate of Elmwood Park High School and was a self-employed contractor in construction.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Poughkeepsie resident Edward F. Sylvia died Wednesday, June 1. He was 88.
Sylvia attended All Hallows High School and graduated from Fordham University, receiving his bachelor’s degree in business administration.
He retired from IBM in 1990 after 36 years of service.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-48.

IRVINGTON, N.Y. — Longtime Irvington resident Elizabeth A. Gilligan died Saturday, June 4. She was 77.
A Tarrytown native, Gilligan was a graduate of North Tarrytown High School.
She is survived by her son, Frank and his wife, Alyson; her son, James and his wife, Kim; her brother, Richard Talley; her sister, Marion Talley; and her five grandchildren.

A native of Colombia, Hernandez worked for many years at Clear Channel Advertising in New Rochelle.

Snyder served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the 100th Infantry, where he played in the band.
