A total of 83 arrests were made in the New York metro area as part of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) nationwide enforcement operation in which more than 2,000 were charged.
Deportation officers made arrests throughout New York City, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, and Jersey City, New Jersey.

The community is rallying for the family of a Wallington woman who will be buried her in her native country, Poland.
Patrycja Rakszawska died unexpectedly on Sept. 24, at 30 years old.
Born in Lezajsk, Poland, she came to the U.S. in 2010 -- a year after marrying her husband, Wojciech, her obituary says.
She was remembered as being a devoted mom to daughter Alicia, 3, passionate about only ffeeding her family natural and organic foods.

Filip Babiuk, 25, Of Linden, Business Owner Who Was Recently Engaged
Filip Babiuk, A Clark resident who spent much of his life in Linden, died suddenly Sunday. He was 25.
Born in Poland, Filip moved to Linden in 2005 before moving to Clark less than a year ago, where he owned and operated Stealth Pool Installations.
Filip enjoyed swimming, sailing, skiing and dancing, and worked as a lifeguard in Avenel in high school. He was a volunteer for many years during the pilgrimage to Our Lady of Czestochowa Shrine in Doylestown, Pennsylvania and also volunteered with the Polish American festival.

Community Rallies For Clifton Woman Who Took Fatal Fall Feeding Stray Church Cats
Ewelina P. Krzywinska of Clifton died on Sept. 28. She was 31 years old.
More than $7,800 had been raised on a GoFundMe toward her funeral.
Ewelina, an avid animal lover, was on her way to feed cats behind her church when she fell and sustained brain damage, according to the GoFundMe launched by her sister, Klaudia Kolodynska. She ultimately died from her injuries, the campaign says.
For most of her life, Ewelina, who came to the U.S. from Poland in 2001, had been battling a rare nerve disorder, the campaign says.
