30+ Fires, Person's Death Spark Massive Refrigerator Recall
More than 121,000 retro-style refrigerators are being recalled after dozens caught fire, including one blaze linked to a death, officials said.
Galanz Americas issued the recall for about 121,680 Galanz Retro Refrigerators, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday, July 30. Internal electrical components can short-circuit and ignite, creating serious fire and burn hazards.
The CPSC is aware of 34 fires involving the refrigerators. One person was killed in one of the fires, according to firefighters.
